Camila Bechelany is a curator, editor and researcher based in São Paulo and Paris. She is a member of the group of art critics from Centro Cultural São Paulo for the year 2018 and currently works as an editor of publications at Pivô Art Center, São Paulo. She was assistant curator at the Museu de Arte de São Paulo, (MASP) from 2016 to 2018 where she co-curated the solo shows of Portinari, Wanda Pimentel, Teresinha Soares, the Guerrilla Girls and the group show Histories of Sexuality, besides other projects. In 2013, she founded with 2 Brazilian artists, the independent project space La Maudite in Paris, dedicated to emergent Latin American artists. Between 2013 and 2014, she co-directed the space and programmed more than 20 events and exhibitions. Between 2012 and 2013, she worked at Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris as assistant researcher at the Kandinsky Library and at the Research and Globalization department. She holds a Master’s degree in Arts and Politics from New York University and Social Anthropology from EHESS, Paris. She is a PhD student in Theory and History of Art at EHESS where she develops a research on exhibitions of Latin American art in Paris from the 60’s to the 90’s.
