Dayane Tropicaos, a visual artist raised in Contagem and currently living in Belo Horizonte, started creating videos and photographs seeking dialogue with the city of Contagem/MG, where she was born and developed her first works. In 2012, she joined the Visual Arts course at Escola de Belas Artes UFMG and also started working in the city of Belo Horizonte. The artist seeks to question the place of art in society, creating proposals for common spaces in the street and outside of the gallery. In her works, she researches the fiction of the self and of the moment using photography, video, installation and other hybrids. In her latest works, she has explored subjects such as race, gender and class struggle. In 2015, the group project “Cine Sem Churumelas” begins, showing films in available locations in the city of Contagem. In 2015 and 2019, the project “O Inusitado Cabe Dentro do Comum” was carried out, organizing art shows in common places on the outskirts of the cities of Contagem and Belo Horizonte.
