Today we live in an extremely difficult and totally unforeseen moment. The world faces the pandemic of the new coronavirus and asks that we all do social isolation. Given these circumstances, we know that for many artists, in addition to health hazards, this is also a financial crisis. Therefore, the PIPA Institute decided to allocate an emergency amount of R $ 50 thousand to support and encourage artists. The “PIPA em casa” [“PIPA at home”] is a virtual show, at www.premiopipa.com. The entries ended on the 20th of April, with works that are mainly being done during this period of social isolation. 126 artists who have participated in at least one edition of the PIPA Prize since 2010 are participating. At the end of the exhibition, ten artists will be selected and will receive each R $ 5,000. Unfortunately, it is not possible to support everyone, but it will be from the sum of independent initiatives that we will find ways to face the crisis.
