Gu da Cei is the son of people from Maranhão, a visual artist, cultural producer, curator at Galeria Risofloras, with a bachelor’s degree in Communication and a master’s degree in Visual Arts from the University of Brasilia. He develops his artistic work in the fields of urban intervention, installation, poetry, performance and video, as well as seeking to understand the dialogical possibilities between historical and contemporary processes of photography, as well as its exhibition and circulation spaces. He discusses surveillance, image, the right to the city and public transport. He won the Prince Claus Seed Awards 2023 and the 3rd Transborda Brasília Contemporary Art Prize. He coordinates the Foto de Quebrada Festival and some of his work can also be seen in the book “O Direito Achado na Rua: Introdução Crítica ao Direito à Comunicação e à Informação” (The Right Found on the Street: A Critical Introduction to the Right to Communication and Information).
