Igor Nunes (1990) was born in Rio de Janeiro, where he lives and works. He has a degree in Graphic Design and further training in painting with João Magalhães at the Parque Lage School of Visual Arts and theoretical and practical classes in Poetics in Process and Poetic Immersions taught by Marcelo Campos, Cadu and Efraim Almeida at the Sem Sítio School. Nunes’ painting is rooted in graffiti, a practice with which he still dialogues. About his research, the artist emphasises: “I investigate what’s beyond the wall, I explore the urban space, the street.” His solo shows took place in 2022, respectively at Zipper Galeria in São Paulo and at Galeria DotArt in Belo Horizonte. He has taken part in several group shows, including Funk: Um Grito de Ousadia e Liberdade, at MAR (2023), the 13th Salão dos Artistas sem Galeria, at Lona Galeria and Zipper Galeria (2022), Os 7 etnógrafos, at DotArt (2020), Melancolia da Paisagem, at Galeria Sem Título (2019), and Queridos Poetas at Galeria Espaço Arte Livre (2017), in Portugal. His works are part of private collections and public collections, such as the Rio Art Museum and Banco do Nordeste.
