Ivã Coelho lives and works in Salvador, Bahia. He graduated in Law in 2007, and since 2011 he took photographic fiction as artistic expression and experimentation to write, read and understand a world based and guided more and more by images. With a self-taught artistic background, he invests in studies about photographic thinking, uses and possibilities of the image to construct narratives of an existential, social and self-representation character. He bases his work on perennial issues of the human being through dialogues with contemporary visual aspects and mainly with literature, poetry, theories of the imaginary, human rights and philosophy. Every reading, every life experience can serve as a leitmotiv to create images that will contain, inside or outside its borders, other possibilities for understanding what surrounds you. Somehow, in addition to an act, photographic making must be a type of consciousness, enabling one to be in the world in a lively way, both aesthetically and critically.
