Janaina Wagner develops her research in several media, such as film, photography, books, drawing, installations, scenography, and painting. The neuralgic point of her work are the relations of limit, control and containment that the human establishes with the world. Currently a PhD student at Le Fresnoy-Studio National des Arts Contemporains (FR), Wagner has participated in several artist residencies, such as Gasworks (EN), FID Campus – Festival International de Cinema de Marseille (FR), Bolsa Pampulha (MG), Red Bull Station (SP), Phosphorus (SP), Casa Tomada (SP), Anarcademia, (W139, Amsterdam), and NES Skagaströnd, on the rural coast of Iceland. Among the main exhibitions, the individual ones With burning love – (Villa Belleville, Paris), Criatura (Oficina Cultural Oswald Andrade, SP), and Decupagem/ Crônica de um final anunciado (MARP, SP) stand out; and the group shows Ensaio de Tração – Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, 10 Semana de Cinema do Rio de Janeiro, Bestiário – Centro Cultural São Paulo – CCSP, Permanências e Destruições – Torre H (RJ), Hipótese e Horizonte – Observatório (SP), 4o Prêmio EDP nas Artes – Instituto Tomie Ohtake (SP). Janaina lives and works between São Paulo and Paris.
