Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1957. Since 1960, with small hiatuses in Rio, he has lived in Brasília, where he immersed himself in architecture and photography. At the University of Brasília (UnB), the School of Architecture was created together with the School of Art. During the course, he developed an interest in artistic expression and the political reading of inhabited space. At UnB, he graduated in 1979, completed a Specialization in 1982 and a Master’s degree in 2004. He presided over the Institute of Architects of Brazil (IAB) in Brasília and was a member of the entity’s Superior Council. He participated in the drafting of the City Statute and published a book about the popular mobilization process that resulted in the law. He practiced Architecture from 1979 to 2015. Since then, he has dedicated himself exclusively to art photography.
