Julia Borges Araña

Lives and works in São Paulo, Brazil.
Member of the PIPA Nominating Committee 2024.

Independent curator and cultural producer with activities in Brazil and abroad, focusing on the creation and dissemination of contemporary art and the relationship between art, science, and technology as central themes in her professional practice. She is the director of Phi Projetos, where she produces internationally renowned exhibitions in collaboration with institutions such as CCBB, Pinacoteca, Sesc, Oi Futuro, and Museu da Imagem e do Som. Additionally, she serves as the director of Instituto URBE, dedicating herself to projects involving artistic installations in public spaces and Light Art exhibitions. She conceived and directed the Homeostasis Lab, a virtual platform dedicated to researching, mapping, cataloging, and showcasing digital art on the internet since 2013. From 2013 to 2019, she curated The Wrong Digital Art Biennale. Between 2005 and 2012, she was part of the production and curation team at Itaú Cultural and MIS‐SP. She holds an MBA in Cultural Asset Management from FGV and a degree in Cinema from FAAP.
