Visual artist, master in art/education and doctoral candidate in Arts at the Institute of Arts, Universidade Estadual Paulista UNESP. She has been holding group exhibitions with works in installation, video, painting, performance, photography and multimedia. Juliana has been investigating the color blue of the flower Clitória Ternátea as a possibility of color as a sensitive experience in the process of expanding the senses. Her research takes place at the intersection between art, history, and education, with an interest in how black artists have engaged in practices to deal with the limits of representation. As a resident artist, she taught classes in the Contextual Painting department at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, Austria (2018). Selected artist in Paço das Artes’ 2019 Season of Projects. Awarded third place in the 16 Salão de Artes Visuais de Ubatuba of 2020 and selected in the 12 Abre-Alas of A Gentil Carioca galeria (RJ). Participated in the 12th edition of the Bienal do Mercosul curated by Fabiana Lopes and Andrea Giunta. Her work is part of the collection of the Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo with the exhibition “Enciclopédia Negra” and of the Museu da Língua Portuguesa in São Paulo – SP. She participated in the group exhibition “Imagens que Não se Conformam” at the Museu de Arte do Rio and in the 3rd edition of Frestas – Triennial of Arts at Sesc Sorocaba, O rio é uma serpente.
