Karola Braga is an artist and olfactory researcher. She has a master’s degree in Visual Poetics from the University of São Paulo (ECA/USP) and a degree in Fine Arts from Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP).

A recurring element in her work is the olfactory sphere. Smells, loaded with symbolic and cultural constructions and with her ability to evoke memories — both individual and collective —, serve as bridges that the artist uses to challenge perception and space, create sensations, access memories and, above all, tell stories. Interweaving elements of culture, chemistry, anthropology and sensory science, her research is largely based on the concepts of presence/absence and memory/forgetting.
