Lives and works in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Visual artist and movie-maker. Graduated in cinema in France by the École Nationale Supérieure des Métiers de l’Image et du Son, La Fémis, in 2006. She makes photos and movies using phone cameras, video cameras and super 8 films, 16 and 35 mm, the film processing handcrafted by the artist herself. Her movies, filled with silence and held at countries such as Haiti, Congo, Niger, Chad, The Netherlands, France and Brazil, address the cultural syncretism in the post-colonial context, studying unveiling the ways of the visible by the fílm mechanism. Her movie Vertières I II III was elected one of the best 10 movies of 2015 by the magazine Artforum at the selection of the curator and theoric Nicole Brenez. It had retrospective sessions at the Oberhausen festival international film festival 2018, Semana dos Realizadores festival 2016, and Cachoeira doc festival 2016. She’s had works selected and awarded in festivals and exhibitions such as Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro, Videobrasil Sesc, Oberhausen international film festival, Fid de Marseille, Rencontres Paris Berlin festival, Semana dos Realizadores Festival, Mostra de Tiradentes, Festival Internacional de Curtas de São Paulo, Festival Cachoeira doc, Festival Janela Internacional de Recife, festival CurtaCinema among others.
