PIPA Prize 2019 nominee.
Borrowing concepts from Contemporary Design and Media Theory, Luiza Crosman’s work is speculative in nature and investigates the possibility of a cultural fiction turn reality and the planetary scale composition of infrastructures to contemplate art’s traction within urban spaces and uncertain futures. Non-linear narratives, performative realities and complexity of information are tools to communicate processes and consider their implications. Visual and conceptual distortions challenge the viewer into becoming part of the speculative scenarios she proposes. Drawing and computer graphic gestures are part of a feedback process which delivers images not entirely woman-made nor machine made, proposing a human and technology integration.

Borrowing concepts from Contemporary Design and Media Theory, Luiza Crosman’s installations, drawings and projects are speculative in nature and investigate the concepts of hyperstition – the possibility of a cultural fiction turn reality – and megastructures – the planetary scale composition of infrastructures – to contemplate and speculate art’s traction within urban spaces and uncertain futures in the interest of rethinking the institutional critique tradition into institutional speculation of new possibilities. Crosman has participated in exhibitions and developed projects with Iselp, Greylight Projects, Constant, (Brussels 2017, 2016), KW (Berlin, 2017), CAC (Vilnius, 2017), CCSP (São Paulo, 2017), &Model Gallery (Leeds, 2015), Silvia Cintra BOX4 Gallery (Rio de Janeiro, 2015), SFMOMA (San Francisco, 2014), Agora (Berlin, 2014).
