The art historian, critic and independent curator Manuel Neves was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, 1973. Neves graduated with distinction in theory and practice of language and the arts in EHESS (l’Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Social) Paris.
He has held curatorial projects and prefaced exhibitions in Montevideo, Punta del Este, Buenos Aires, Brasilia, Santiago, Chile, Lima, Miami, Paris, Porto, Rome and Washington DC.
Won in 2004, the curatorial project at the Municipal Hall of Montevideo 2004, and was awarded in 2007 the concursáveis funds from the Uruguayan Ministry of Education and Culture, research category.
Published three books on Uruguayan art and on Brazilian art and currently serves as artistic director at the Elephant Cultural Centre in Brasilia, Brazil.
