Marcelo Reis

Lives and works in Salvador, Brazil.

Lives and works in Salvador, Bahia, where he was born in the summer of 1972.

Graduated as a journalist [DRT / BA 5300], he is a master’s student in Management and Education with an emphasis on Photography at the State University of Bahia, UNEB, working directly in the field of photography, as a researcher teacher and cultural producer. He writes about photography for several collective collectives and individuals of whom he is also a curator.

Since 1997 he coordinates the Casa da Photographia Institute, where he conducts research projects on the new generation of Bahian photography, Panorama da Fotografia na Bahia, and directs the Festival A Gosto da Fotografia linking Bahia to the main productive poles of thought in Brazil and abroad.

He is currently as coordinator of Visual Arts at the Cultural Foundation of the State of Bahia, Funceb, which is in charge of coordinating the Pierre Verger National Photography Award, among other activities.
