Maria do Carmo M. P. de Pontes is an independent curator and writer who holds an MFA in Curating from Goldsmiths College (2011). Recent exhibitions and projects include the curatorship of the Masters sector at SP-Arte 2020; Rhythmic Beats: Ivan Serpa and his legacy at the Brazilian Embassy in London and Amazones – a selection of Catherine Petitgas’ collection at ArtParis, Grand Palais (both 2019); There is Always a Third Time (2018 – 19) and I Do Everything To Do Nothing (2017–18) both Carlito Carvalhosa’s solo shows in São Paulo; Hallstatt (2016–17) at the Galpão Fortes d’Aloia & Gabriel, São Paulo; curating the Solo Projects of ARCOmadrid 2016; Akakor at Baró Galeria, São Paulo (2015) and Alter-Heroes at the Museu de Arte Contemporânea da Universidade de São Paulo (MAC–USP) (2014). In 2014 she founded Question Centre, a nomadic exhibition platform that draws on generational bonds among artists. She edited the publication Monumento (2019) which focusses on the work of Alexandre da Cunha, has collaborated with different books and magazines, and is a regular contributor of Conceptual Fine Arts.
