Maria Macêdo

Between 2020-2021, she was part of the 7th edition of the Visual Arts Laboratory of the Porto Iracema das Artes school (Fortaleza, Brazil), under the tutorship of the artist Ana Lira, with the project “Língua Ferina: Artista retirante e a fertilização da imagem”, later selected for the 31st São Paulo Cultural Center Exhibition Program, 2021.

She was part of the educational curatorship team for the 15th Bienal Naifs do Brasil 2020 – SESC Piracicaba/SP, and for the exhibition “Corpo/Gênero/Sexualidade: para que te quero?”, from the Bixórdia study and creation laboratory (Cariri, Brazil).

Macêdo is a member of Coletivo Artivista Karetas com Prekito, of Coletivo Cantando Marias, of the Iamís Kariris theater group and of the Quebrada Cultural space for dissemination and artistic/educational production (Juazeiro do Norte, Brazil).

She participated in several national and international exhibitions, having her first solo exhibition entitled “Incendiar com a boca o mundo” at the Centro Cultural Banco do Nordeste Cariri in 2021. She was responsible for some collective curatorships, such as SERILUSORA (2019) at the Centro de Artes/URCA; Mulheres Pensantes, Presentes! and RASTROVESTIGIUM (2018), at the  Maria Célia Bacurau/URCA gallery, in Crato, Brazil. Currently, she is working temporarily as an assistant curator for the Pinacoteca do Estado do Ceará.

The artist has works in the following collections: Museu de Arte Contemporânea do Ceará (Fortaleza, Brazil), Museu de Arte Contemporânea do Paraná (Curitiba– PR, Brazil), Public Collection of the city of Juazeiro do Norte (Brazil), Museu d’água (Belém, Brazil) .
