The production of Bruno Cançado is based on sculpture and its intersection with other languages such as drawing. He works from the matter and the physicality of things to investigate our relationship with the landscape, the construction, the inhabit.
He has a degree in Social Communication from PUC Minas and Fine Arts from the Escola Guignard UEMG, Minas Gerais State University, Brazil. Since 2010 he takes part in group exhibitions in Brazil and abroad. He held solo exhibitions, such as “Trinca” in AM Gallery, Belo Horizonte; and “Thin Failure” in Hudson D. Walker Gallery, Provincetown, USA. He has been awarded with prizes of artistic residences as Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, USA, 2013; Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, USA, 2014/2015; Instituto Sacatar, Bahia, Brazil, 2015/2016. He was awarded with the Prêmio Bolsa Residência of the Fair SPArte 2014 at the Fundação Bienal de Cerveira, Portugal. In 2012, he was selected for the Exchange Program and the Cultural Diffusion of the Ministry of Brazilian Culture for being part of the exhibition. “Drawing To No End” in Portland, USA. His work is part of the collections of the MAC (Museum of Contemporary Art) Niteroi and Museum of Art Rio, Brazil.
