Cadu’s artistic practice deals with the creation of systems, machines, installations, painting, drawings and sculptures that incorporate elements of nature to push the boundaries of the relationship between man and landscape. These systems are also used to explore the area of sonic arts.

The artist was awarded the scholarship Iberê Camargo, granting him a residency programme in 2001 at the London Print Studio. In 2008, he was a visiting artist at the University of Plymouth by the invitation of the Arts Council (UK).

Cadu was a finalist of SESI Marcantonio Vilaça in 2011. The artist was PIPA Prize nominee in 2010, 2011, 2012 and won the award in 2013. Cadu was the first artist to take part in the residency programme at Residency Unlimited, New York as part of the PIPA award.

In 2014, he participated in the Plataforma Atacama project (Chile) and InSite residency programme (Mexico). Recent solo gallery exhibitions include: Vermelho (São Paulo), Casa de Cultura Laura Alvim and Laura Marsiaj (Rio de Janeiro), D21 (Santiago) and WU (Lima). Group exhibitions include: “Amor e ódio a Lygia Clark” – Zacheta National Gallery (Warsaw), the 13th Istanbul Biennial, the 3rd Festival of Art and Technology Moscow, the 30th Biennial of São Paulo, “Art in Brazil” (Europalia Festival – Brussels), “Panorama of Brazilian Art 2011″(São Paulo) and the 7th Mercosul Biennial (Porto Alegre).

Cadu is currently a professor at the Rio de Janeiro State University, Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro and the School of Visual Arts of Parque Lage.

At the 2013 Finalists’ exhibition at MAM-Rio, Cadu showed an architectural model with the exact dimensions of the hut. The video was made at the hut in the countryside of Rio de Janeiro after he won the prize.
