Guagliardi studied at the School of Visual Arts of Parque Lage (1987/1989) and pursued a post graduate degree in Art and Architecture at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (1990/1991).
Together with artists from her generation, she founded the study group Visorama. The artist organized seminars and public debates on contemporary art between 1990 to 1995.

With other artists of her generation, she founded the study group Visorama, which organised seminars and public debates on contemporary art from 1990 to 1995. She participated in several international programs for resident artists: Künstlerhaus Bethanien Berlin (1999), was awarded the Scholarship of Cultura Virtuose from MinC; HIAP Helsinki International Artist-in-residence Program (2001); Khoj, Mysore (2002); Artists Residence L.A. Villa Aurora, Los Angeles (2007). Carla Guagliardi studied at the Parque Lage’s School of Visual Arts (1987/1989) and completed her postgraduate studies in History of Art and Architecture in Brazil, at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (1990-1991).
