Francisco Magalhães is a native of Mutum, residing in Belo Horizonte since 1975. He had a degree in Fine arts with trainings at EBA UFMG, Escola de Artes e Ofícios de Contagem and School Guignard UEMG. Since 1984 he has participated in collective and individual exhibitions. He participated in art salons, received prizes, among them, (sculpture) Special Prize for Object and Sculpture Alfredo Ceschiatti, in the XXI Salon of Art of Pampulha – Belo Horizonte; (Drawing) Individual Exhibition Prize at the 44th Contemporary Art Salon of Paraná. Curitiba; (Drawing) Belo Horizonte City Hall Prize at the 18th Art Exhibition of Pampulha – BH; (Painting) Banco Econômico Award, at the XXXVIII Art Exhibition of Pernambuco – Recife, Brazil.

Between 2005/2011 he was Director of the Mineiro Museum and carried out actions that had the objective to create rapprochement between community and the Museum proposing it as a “territory of contact” between cultures. Among these projects is “The Guards Museum”, conferred with the seal of finalist of the Living Culture Award – MINC / IPHAN. In 2011, he received the Rumos Culture and Art Education Award from the Itaú Cultural Institute.
Acts as a Professor at workshops at the UFMG Winter Festival.
He is professor of painting in the Free Course of the Guignard School, Extension Department.
He is Butler of the Flag of St. Benedict of the Guard of Mozambique and Congo Thirteen of May of the Reign of N. S. Rosário, Bairro Concordia, BHZ.
