The work of Julio Leite investigates the relationship between image and its corresponding sign, replacing already-known connections between significant and significance with new, altered approaches, this way giving new meanings to what is seen in the final artwork. Appropriating and ressignifying signs is thus the formal and conceptual starting point of Leite’s oeuvre, its immediate transformation translated to the imagetic field consisting, above all, in the creation of a metatextual connection which determines new visual results due to the displacements made. The entire process is therefore associated to the Wittgenstein theory which states that not all which is seen corresponds to what is read.
