”The nature of the images utilised by the broad spectrum of languages that the contemporary media utilises suggest, equally, broad opportunity for interventions. In this way, filling me with the vastness of this unusual and expanding world, where I act in a variety of manners, which, for an artist, is the noblest opportunity for developing countless methods of creation. In my case, for example, I have as a starting point for my pieces the appropriation and intervention of images from different origins. Books and old documents, posters, erratum, maps, photos, anonymous biographies, amongst many others, creating a great cast of unique, combined, particular, personal, and some prosaic, procedures, like clippings and collages. Others- from the broadening of a unique methodology- created by myself, such as ‘descolagem’, scarifying, serpentine and camouflage establishing a surgical poetical cathedra, in service of the investigation of the image, besides from and about subliminal, turbulent, revealing and terminal references. This way, the piece generates new and rare limits between one cosmogony readapted to the interiority of the image and the exteriority of the secular consummate. And, in that manner, I continue finding, in practice, the more exact direction to explain, that which, as an artist, motivates my observations and routine necessities of analysing the subtle questions that the world, in a generic form, proposes and recycles the entire time”. – Odires Mlászho
