Bruno Miguel graduated in Fine Arts and Painting at the School of Fine Arts at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. The artist attended several courses at the School of the Visual Arts of Parque Lage, under the teaching of João Magalhães and was selected to participate in the programme “Aprofundamento 2010” with Gloria Ferreira, Luiz Ernesto and Livia Flores.
Miguel currently teaches “Contemporary Theories of Painting”, together with Luis Ernesto, and “Contemporary Interphases: Hybrid processes of creation” at the School of the Visual Arts of Parque Lage.
The artist’s research focuses on landscape painting or the time in and about the landscape, considering the possible constructions and representations of the same. The artist utilises a pictorial thought as his starting point and aggregates personal references, such as the history of art, media and popular culture.

In 2005, the artist held the exhibition The Concept and Empty, his first single, at Space EBA 7, in Rio de Janeiro. Miguel received Special Honorable Mention in the Fifth Biennial International of Art -SIART, in La Paz, Bolivia in 2007. In the same year, he won a grant from Furnas Sociocultural Incubator for Artistic Talent. Miguel participated in the exhibition Nova Arte Nova, at Cultural Centre Banco do Brasil, Rio de Janeiro, in 2008 and in São Paulo, in 2009. In 2009, the artist participated once again in the Biennial of La Paz, and the group show Nouvelle Vague, at the gallery Laura Marsiaj Arte Contemporânea. In 2010, he participated in the following group shows: Fresh Ink, at Mariana Moura Gallery in Pernambuco, at Salão de Artes of Itajai, Santa Catarina, and Latidos Urbanos at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Santiago, Chile. In Rio de Janeiro, Miguel has held the following solo shows: Spring Love at Largo das Artes, in 2010 and Have a Nice Day! at the gallery Luciana Caravello Arte Contemporânea, in 2011. He also participated, in the same year, in the group shows New Brazilian Sculpture at Caixa Cultural, Rio de Janeiro, and Fronteiriços, at Emma Thomas gallery, in São Paulo, and the gallery Luciana Caravello Arte Contemporânea, in Rio de Janeiro. In 2012, Miguel participated in the exhibition New Acquisitions of Gilberto Chateaubriand at the Museum of Modern Art of Rio and Gramática Urbana, curated by Vanda Klabin, at Cultural Centre Helio Oiticica, in Rio de Janeiro, and also presented the solo show DVCO, NON DVCOR, at Emma Thomas Gallery, in São Paulo. He taught, in 2010, at the School of Fine Arts, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and is currently a professor at the School of Visual Arts of Parque Lage, since 2011.
