Holding a B.A. in Fine Arts from Universidade de São Paulo, Gilbert takes part in a curatorship and criticism research group oriented by Tadeu Chiarelli. As an artist, he was featured in the 33º Panorama da Arte Brasileira at the Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo (MAM-SP), São Paulo, Brazil; the XVI Yogyakarta Biennale, Indonesia; “Mitologias/Mythologies”, curated by Kiki Mazzucchelli at Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, France; “Imagine Brazil”, curated by Gunnar B. Kvaran and Hans Ulrich Obrist, at the Astrup Fearnley Museet, Oslo, Norway; and in the “Monument to Cold War Victory”, curated by Yevgeniy Fiks and Stamatina Gregory at Cooper Union, New York, US. He also participated in a Delfina Foundation artistic residence program in London, UK. He is founder and editor of the Dazibao art magazine.
