Josué Mattos is an art historian and curator. Graduated in History of Art and Archeology at Université Paris X Nanterre, where he obtained the title of Master 1 and 2 in Contemporary History of Art. In 2009 completed his Master Degree in Curatorial Practices at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. Mattos was invited by Sesc-SP to take on the curatorial programme of the first edition of Frestas- Art Triennial/ “What would be of the world without the things that don’t exist ?” and “Our proposition is with dialogue”, in Sorocaba (2014-2015). Amongst projects he directed, are: the programme of actions and performances “ Is it credit or debit?” (Sesc SP, 2010-2013), which was performed in 90 cities in the state of Sao Paulo. Mattos curated several exhibitions, highlights include: “Porque somos elas e eles” (Blau Projects, 2016), 45ª Coletiva de Artistas de Joinville (MAJ, 2016), “Albano Afonso: Amor Fati” (Museu de Arte de Ribeirão Preto, 2014), XIIº e XIIIº Salão Nacional de Artes de Itajaí (Fundação Cultural de Itajaí, 2010-2013),”Eu fui o que tu és e tu serás o que eu sou” (Paço das Artes, 2012), “Pazé: Uma realidade pode esconder outras” (Sesc São Carlos, 2012), “Tânia Mouraud: La Fabrique” (Sesc Bom Retiro, 2012), “Como o tempo passa quando a gente se diverte” (Casa Triângulo 2011), “Boîte Invaliden” (Invaliden Gallery/Fidalga, 2012), “Por aqui, formas tornaram-se atitudes” (Sesc Vila Mariana, 2010), “À la limite” (Galerie Michel Journiac / Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, 2009), “Brígida Baltar e Sandra Cinto – Terres et Cieux”(Mairie VIIIème, 2009) and Festival Inter-cambio (Espace Beaujon and Station Europe/3, RATP Paris, 2007-2009-2010).

Since 2010, coordinates visits to art projects in studios, debates and award jury salons in cities such as Fortaleza (Porto Iracema das Artes), Piracicaba (Pinacoteca Municipal), Salvador (Secult e MAM-BA), Brasília (Caixa Cultural e CCBB), Recife (IAC-UFPE), Ribeirão Preto (MARP e Sesc), São Paulo (ProAC e Sesc), Joinville (MAJ) e Florianópolis (FCC). Mattos is the editor of the magazine Binomios, project awarded by the Redes Nacional Funarte Artes Visuais award. Currently works in the development of the Cultural Art Centre of Veras, in Florianópolis (SC).
