Cristiana Tejo is an independent curator and Ph.D. in Sociology (UFPE). She is a researcher for the Artists and Radical Education in Latin America: 1960s and 1970s project funded by the Portuguese Science and Technology Foundation and an integrated member of the Institute of Art History of the New University of Lisbon. It has been dedicated to projects aimed at the international exchange between Brazil and Abroad, the professionalization of artists and to think about the field of art curation in Brazil. Since 2016 he has been making critical follow-ups to artists from various parts of the world. She is a co-founder of Espaço Espaço – Centro de Investigação em Arte (Recife), a place of residence that has hosted artists and curators from Germany, France, Spain, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Holland, Portugal and from various parts of Brazil. She was also curator of the Made in Mirrors Project, which involved exchanges between artists from Brazil, China, Egypt and the Netherlands, from 2007 to 2012. As general coordinator of Scientific and Cultural Capacity-Building of the Culture Directorate of the Joaquim Nabuco Foundation ( 2009 – 2011), Cristiana Tejo designed a vast program of training in contemporary art for field agents. She was co-curator of the 32nd Panorama of Brazilian Art of MAM – SP, with Cauê Alves, in 2011. She was Director of the Museum of Modern Art Aloísio Magalhães (2007-2009), curator of Fine Arts of the Joaquim Nabuco Foundation (2002-2006) , Curator of Rumos Artes Visuais do Itaú Cultural (2005-2006), Visiting Curator of Malakoff Tower (2003 – 2006) and curator of the 46th Salão de Artes Plásticas de Pernambuco (2004-2005). She curated Paulo Bruscky’s Special Room at the X Biennial of Havana, co-curated Brazilian Summer Show – Art & the City (Het Domein Museum, Holland, 2009) with Roel Arkenstein, Future of the Present (Itaú Cultural, 2007) with Agnaldo Farias and Art does not deliver us from anything at all (ACC Galerie, Weimar, 2006). Participated in several selection and awarding commissions, including: Bonnefanten Contemporary Art Prize 2014 (Maastricht, Netherlands), Videobrasil 2013, Solo Projects – Focus Latin America (ARCO Madrid, 2013), Rumos Artes Visuais de Argentina ), Salão de Goiás, Salão Arte Pará, Program BNB Cultural, Situações Brasília, among others. He taught History of Art at Integrated Colleges Barros Melo for 8 years where he also coordinated the Bachelor of Fine Arts (2008-2009). Published Paulo Bruscky – Art in Every Way (2009), Panorama of Emerging Thinking (2011) and Jump in the Dark (2012). She was the organizer of the book Paulo Bruscky – Art and multimedia (2014) and Five Dimensions of Curatorship (2017). He contributes regularly to the magazines Select (Brazil) and Earthquake (Mexico). Lives and works between Recife and Lisbon.
