Belo Horizonte, Brazil, 1966.
Lives and works in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

PIPA 2012 nominee.

Mabe Bethônico works in dialogue with archives and other institutions, with an interest for fictionalizing reference sources, making access through various means such as newspapers, posters, internet and lectures. She deals with limits between documentation and construction, evidencing how information can be constructed and continuously reworked, questioning truth.

Her projects may extend over several years, such as the Collector (1996 -), or arise after months of research. The productions are incorporated in a flexible archive that begins in the internet (www.museumuseu.art.br), and extends itself through different spaces, actions, formats and institutions, until returning to the initial site, where it modified its structure and relations between its parts at each new incorporated element.
