Lives and works between São Paulo, Brazil and Basel, Switzerland.

PIPA 2016 nominee.

Visual artist, Swiss-Brazilian, Wirz has lived in Europe for the past 10 years. Studied Public Relations at the University of Taubaté and Visual Arts at the School of Visual Arts in Basel (FHNW Hochschule für Gestaltung and Kunst FHNW) and at the Academy of Fine Arts of Stuttgart, (Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart). Participated in artistic residencies in Paris (Citè des Arts), Berlin (Post-Studio-Takes), New York (Residency Unlimited – Pioneer Works). Currently lives in Rome, completing a residency programme from the Swiss Institute (Instituto Svizzero di Roma).
His artistic research is directed towards processes of collective and collaborative creations, usually generated through group dynamics such as games or jokes. His most recent works however, indirectly encompasses the thematic of the imaginarium collective, represented by legends and myths of the Brazilian culture, in particular of Vale do Paraíba. Participated in exhibitions at CCSP (São Paulo), Curatorial Lab SP Arte (São Paulo), Mendes Wood DM  (São Paulo) in Brazil and internationally at Kunsthalle Basel (Basel, Switzerland), Palais de Tokyo (Paris, France), Tinguely Museum (Basel, Switzerland), CCS Bard Hessel Museum of Art (Annandale-On-Hudson, USA), Kunstlerhaus Stuttgart (Sttutgart, Germany), Kai Masumiya Gallery (New York, USA), amongst others.
